Commemoration of the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations at UNON.


The United Nation Office at Nairobi (UNON) in conjunction with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Kenya hosts a commemoration of the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, observed annually on 10 June, to promote mutual understanding, respect for diversity, dialogue and cooperation among civilizations.


The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Kenya will host a commemoration of the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations on Wednesday, 10 June 2026.

The International Day was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly through resolution A/RES/78/286, adopted on 7 June 2024, designating 10 June as an annual observance. The Day provides an opportunity to highlight the importance of dialogue among civilizations as a means of promoting mutual understanding, tolerance, respect for diversity, solidarity and peaceful coexistence.

The commemoration will bring together participants to reflect on the value of cultural diversity and the role of dialogue in strengthening cooperation, building trust and advancing shared understanding among peoples and nations.
